For everyday tasks like web browsing, email, and streaming, the HP Stream 14" is a cost-effective choice, offering decent performance and excellent battery life for its budget price. It's also highly portable due to its lightweight design. However, its screen quality and gaming capabilities are limited, and it lacks advanced features like a backlit keyboard or fingerprint reader. On the other hand, the Lenovo LOQ 15i, while pricier, delivers a significant performance boost with its powerful processor and dedicated Nvidia GPU, making it suitable for more demanding tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning. Its screen is brighter and more color-accurate, and it includes a number pad, backlit keyboard, and modern security features like facial recognition. It's also equipped with more USB-C and HDMI ports, and supports hardware ray tracing and DLSS for enhanced gaming experiences. The LOQ 15i is still portable, but slightly heavier and thicker than the Stream 14". In summary, if you prioritize portability, battery life, and budget over performance, the HP Stream 14" is a solid choice for general use. However, if you need a laptop that can handle intensive tasks and provide a better display and gaming experience, the Lenovo LOQ 15i is the way to go, despite its higher cost and slightly reduced portability. PCMag

Zachary Cuevas | November 2021
"With half of the main system memory and a fraction of the storage that we recommend in any budget Windows laptop, the HP Stream 14 does not impress. Perhaps it doesn't need to, depending on your reference point. For the price, you're getting a functional laptop with Windows 10, which already places the HP Stream 14 above most Chromebooks on that merit alone. Still, in this price range, you can't do much worse, but you can do better. In fact, for just $100 more, you can grab the much superior budget option, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14."

Mark Knapp | August 2023
"Even after a short time with the LOQ 15, you'll find it has a lot going for it, but ultimately it's just "good"—not quite a star. The performance is respectable for the hardware it’s running, but Lenovo had to make some design sacrifices to trim the price. One of the better aspects is the keyboard, making it one of the better low-cost gaming laptops to actually put your hands on."
