The HP Omen 17 offers a better graphics card and higher resolution display which is good for 3D rendering, gaming, and engineering tasks, but it's heavier and bulkier, making it less portable than the MSI Stealth GS66. The MSI has a higher refresh rate screen and is more portable due to its lighter weight and smaller size, making it better suited for on-the-go use and fast-paced games but comes in at a higher price. The Omen also generally costs less, provides more storage out of the box, and has a numeric keypad. If budget and screen size for detailed work are your priorities, the HP Omen 17 is a solid choice. However, if portability and a faster screen for gaming are more important, consider the MSI Stealth GS66 despite its higher price. Give Feedback

The HP Omen 17 offers a vibrant display with high resolution and brightness suitable for daily tasks and fine detail work in engineering, but its lower refresh rate hinders the smooth visuals needed for high-speed gaming. The MSI Stealth GS66 also provides clear and bright imagery important for both general tasks and precision in engineering design, though it similarly lacks the high refresh rate gamers seek for seamless 3D experiences. Both models cover a range of colors well, ensuring that creative professionals see accurate hues, but gamers might find the slower screen response detracts from immersive gaming.

How the HP Omen 17 and the MSI Stealth GS66 compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"The MSI Stealth GS66 is powerful enough for QHD. The Core i7-12700H and the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti found in the 12UGS model that we tested run all modern games smoothly in the native QHD resolution. The 15-inch display is very fast with its 240 Hz refresh rate, and it also offers a great color space (almost 100% DCI-P3) on top of that, which should please gamers as well as content creators, although we would have still wished for a higher brightness. Case, input devices, and connectivity (Thunderbolt 4) are at a good level. However, among other things, the GS66 loses points due to the high temperature development in 3D mode and its poor webcam."
