The HP Omen 17 offers a more wallet-friendly option and is lighter, making it easier to carry. Its performance is robust for general use, gaming, and even demanding tasks like 3D modeling, although it trails behind the MSI Raider GE78. The Raider, equipped with more powerful hardware, excels at intensive gaming, 3D, and engineering work but comes with a higher price tag and is bulkier, impacting its portability. Opt for the HP Omen 17 if budget and greater mobility are priorities; choose the MSI Raider GE78 for top-tier performance at the expense of portability and cost. Give Feedback

The MSI Raider GE78 has a better screen than the HP Omen 17 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the HP Omen 17 and MSI Raider GE78 offer clear, bright displays with high resolution, making text and images sharp and easy to read, which is great for browsing and video streaming. When it comes to engineering and design, both laptops provide wide color gamuts, ensuring that designers and engineers see accurate colors and gradients for their work. However, for gaming and 3D applications which demand fluid motion, the lower refresh rates on both laptops mean that they may not provide the smoothest experience, with fast-paced visuals not being as crisp as they would be on a higher refresh rate screen.

How the HP Omen 17 and the MSI Raider GE78 compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"Performance-wise, the GE78 offers a significant boost over the GE77 for just slightly higher power consumption. You'll have to get the RTX 4080 or 4090 configurations to see the performance advantages, however, as the RTX 4070 is closer in performance to the older RTX 3080 Ti. In terms of design, some users might prefer the 16:9 minimalistic look of the older GE77 over the 16:10 retro-inspired GE78 and vice versa. We wouldn't call one better than the other in terms of aesthetics, but we'll give the edge to the GE78 for its stronger hinges and larger keys and clickpad."
