The HP Omen 17 is a high-performance laptop designed for gaming and intensive tasks like 3D rendering or engineering software, due to a powerful processor and high-end dedicated graphics. It's less portable with a heavier build and shorter battery life, but offers a larger screen and higher refresh rate for smoother visuals. Conversely, the Lenovo Flex 5 16 is more affordable, lightweight, and has a longer battery life—suitable for general use and offers a touchscreen with a 2-in-1 flexible design. It has an integrated graphics that can handle everyday tasks but might struggle with demanding applications or games. Choose the HP if you need robust performance for specialized tasks and don't mind less portability, or the Lenovo for everyday usage, better battery life, and portability. Give Feedback

The HP Omen 17 is very good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo Flex 5 16 is good.
The HP Omen 17 offers a robust performance for engineering and design tasks with its high-end CPU, a significant amount of storage, a powerful GPU, and a high-quality screen, but it is less portable owing to its larger size and weight. In contrast, the Lenovo Flex 5 16 provides good performance with an efficient CPU and integrated graphics, a high-resolution touchscreen with a taller aspect ratio for more vertical content, and greater portability thanks to its lighter weight and 2-in-1 convertible design.

The HP Omen 17 has a better screen than the Lenovo Flex 5 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
The HP Omen 17 offers a display that presents vivid colors and crisp images, benefiting tasks in engineering and design due to its wide color gamuts, but its lower refresh rate hampers its performance in gaming and 3D where smooth motion is key. The Lenovo Flex 5 16, with its flexible screen and decent resolution, provides a good all-around experience for general tasks and supports professional work like engineering with good color representation, yet it also falls short for gaming and 3D work because of a less than ideal refresh rate. For both screens, the limitations in gaming mainly stem from the absence of high refresh rates, which are crucial for a smooth visual experience in fast-paced environments.

How the HP Omen 17 and the Lenovo Flex 5 16 compare to other laptops
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 is a solidly equipped, 2-in-1 in the lower price segment. Performance is definitely sufficient for everyday tasks and in tests the battery proved itself to be very economical. That aside, there is a lot of standard fare on show and a search for real highlights ends in vain. The low color coverage and reflective display can be avoided by going for an optional 2.5K display but this also presumably results in poorer battery life. The cooling uses only one fan and leads to a raised temperature on one side of the device under load. Additionally, there is very loud fan noise, also under load or when gaming. On top of that, we also occasionally noticed electronic noises."
