For a balance of performance and cost, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 offers a midrange price point with a powerful Intel i9-14900HX processor and ample 32GB of RAM, making it suitable for demanding tasks and multitasking. Its Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU provides solid gaming and 3D rendering capabilities, and the 16-inch IPS display with a 240Hz refresh rate is excellent for fast-motion content. The Legion's larger color space coverage ensures vibrant colors, which is great for media consumption and creative work. However, it lacks some premium features like a fingerprint reader and Thunderbolt ports. On the other hand, the HP Omen 17 is typically priced higher but justifies the cost with a more powerful Nvidia RTX 4080 GPU, which is ideal for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning tasks. The 17.3-inch screen with a 165Hz refresh rate and higher resolution offers immersive visuals, though it has a slightly lower PPI compared to the Legion. The Omen includes premium features such as Thunderbolt 3 ports, facial recognition, and an SD card reader, enhancing connectivity and security. It's also built with a number pad and hardware ray tracing, catering to gamers and professionals alike. In summary, if you prioritize superior graphics performance, larger screen real estate, and premium features, the HP Omen 17 is the way to go. However, if you're looking for a more cost-effective solution with excellent overall performance, a high refresh rate display, and greater portability due to its smaller size and weight, the Lenovo Legion 5 16 is the better choice. NotebookCheck

Marc Herter | September 2022
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
