The HP Omen 16 offers better overall gaming performance with a newer processor, which would be more suitable if you prioritize gaming and intensive tasks. However, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5, while slightly less capable for gaming, has a taller screen aspect ratio which might be better for productivity tasks as it provides more vertical space. In terms of portability, the Legion Slim 5 is a bit lighter and therefore easier to carry around. Both share the same graphics card, so in terms of pure graphics capability, they are comparable. If you favor performance and gaming and are willing to pay slightly more, go for the HP Omen 16, but if you want to save money and have a machine that's easier to carry with a screen better suited for work tasks, the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 is the choice. How the HP Omen 16 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 compare to other laptops
"The Omen 16 has proven to be a fairly good mid-range gaming laptop with all-around improvements compared to the Omen 15. The high overall performance level across all use cases, the long battery life, and the good FHD display constitute the main advantages of this HP laptop. The main drawbacks are the faulty touchpad (one-off?) and the high latencies that can be observed even after just opening the browser. Furthermore, the useless, preinstalled 30-day trial versions of various software also fall under the category "unnecessary"."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 acknowledges that a gaming laptop doesn’t have to be as thick as possible and can still ensure adequate cooling when the muscles need flexing. To this end, in the Slim 5 Gen 8, it finds a neat balance of refined, trimmed-down design that still lets its internals cruise (even above their max power ratings). Lenovo then added in some high-end build quality with an altogether excellent keyboard that’s useful for both work and play."
