If you prioritize portability and a lower price point, consider the HP EliteBook 845 G9, as it is lighter, more compact, and typically less expensive than the MSI. However, for those who need high performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, engineering tasks, or intensive gaming, the MSI Stealth GS77 is the better choice with a more powerful processor, superior graphics, more storage, and higher RAM. The MSI also has a larger, higher-resolution display that offers more screen real estate and better motion handling, but this also means it has a shorter battery life and is heavier, making it less ideal for frequent travel. The MSI Stealth GS77 is very good for general use, while the HP EliteBook 845 G9 is good.
The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is appreciated for general use due to its balance of a competent processor, adequate memory, and a high-quality screen, coupled with its portability and long battery life. In contrast, the MSI Stealth GS77 offers superior performance with a more powerful CPU and double the memory, a better screen for high-quality visuals with greater resolution and color coverage, but sacrifices some portability and battery life due to its larger size and more demanding components.

The MSI Stealth GS77 is good for gaming and AI, while the HP EliteBook 845 G9 is only fair.
The MSI Stealth GS77 outperforms the HP EliteBook 845 G9 in gaming and 3D tasks mainly because it boasts a more powerful Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, which is highly suitable for these activities, compared to the HP's AMD Radeon 660M GPU. Moreover, the MSI laptop offers a much higher screen refresh rate, which is critical for smooth visuals in gaming and benefits 3D rendering, unlike the HP's lower refresh rate display.

The MSI Stealth GS77 is very good for engineering and design, while the HP EliteBook 845 G9 is good.
The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is considered good for engineering and design tasks due to its decent CPU and RAM, reliable integrated GPU, and high-quality IPS screen, but the MSI Stealth GS77 surpasses it particularly because of its superior dedicated GPU, greater RAM, and a sharper display, enhancing performance in graphics-intensive applications. While the EliteBook offers better portability and quieter operating noise, it's the Stealth's robust performance attributes, like its better CPU and top tier GPU, which make it very good for demanding engineering and design software, despite it being less travel-friendly and potentially noisier during heavy use.

The MSI Stealth GS77 has a better screen than the HP EliteBook 845 G9 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is well-suited for general use and engineering tasks due to its resolution, brightness, and color accuracy, which ensure crisp text and vibrant images necessary for these activities. However, its lower refresh rate makes it less ideal for 3D applications and gaming, which require faster screen updates for smooth motion. The MSI Stealth GS77, with similar attributes for general use and engineering, offers a better screen experience for these uses as well, but still falls short for gaming and 3D due to the refresh rate, which is crucial for high-speed graphics rendering.

How the HP EliteBook 845 G9 and the MSI Stealth GS77 compare to other laptops
"The high-end version of the HP EliteBook 845 G9 with a Ryzen 9 PRO 6950HS, 32GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD packs a lot of power, but is still quiet and cool enough to operate in noise-sensitive environments. Quiet, cool and drawing on a massive 40 watts from the APU at the same time, however, is not possible. The 14-incher only has a single-fan solution and it only just manages to keep an near unthrottled Ryzen 9 in check."
"The MSI Stealth GS77 is better than the GS76... mostly. The GS77 is a few steps forward and a few steps back from the GS76. Improvements are numerous including the stronger and more rigid skeleton, higher resolution webcam, larger clickpad, easier serviceability, relatively similar battery runtimes, newer display options, and higher performance at about the same TDP and TGP levels as before. CPU performance is better than expected even when compared to other laptops with Core i7 or Core i9 processors. The newer model feels more substantial than the outgoing one for higher quality impressions as well."
