The HP Dragonfly Pro 14" is priced higher but offers superior overall performance, build quality, and features like a touchscreen, higher screen resolution, and more robust GPU suitable for more intensive tasks such as 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering work. It's more portable with a longer battery life, making it a better choice for those on the go. On the other hand, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" is more budget-friendly and has a larger screen, which could be beneficial for general use and tasks that benefit from extra screen real estate, though its performance and portability aren't as strong as the HP. The HP Dragonfly Pro 14" has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When considering general use, the HP Dragonfly Pro's and Lenovo IdeaPad 3's screens offer sufficient resolution and brightness for activities like browsing and watching videos, which don't demand high-end display features. Their color gamut adequacy suits engineering and design tasks, where precise color representation matters for tasks like photo editing or CAD work. However, both fall short for gaming and 3D applications due to lower refresh rates, which can lead to less fluid motion and responsiveness during high-speed gaming or 3D rendering.

How the HP Dragonfly Pro 14" and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"I’d say that the HP Dragonfly Pro checks off most of the boxes for this freelancer. It feels nice to use, is zippy and responsive, has great speakers, and even has a relatively sane price. Although it’s an unorthodox choice to pick AMD for this kind of machine, it’s clear that when Ryzen is given a chance to shine, it can kick a lot of butt."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
