The HP 15" Laptop is typically less expensive and offers a larger 15.6-inch screen which is not touch-enabled. It's more suited for basic tasks and may have a longer battery life for typical usage, although it's less portable due to its larger size and weight. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is more portable with a smaller, touch-enabled 12.4-inch screen and a higher resolution, making it better for those who value a compact size and screen clarity. It also has a better build quality and speakers. If you're performing more demanding tasks, the Surface's newer processor could be advantageous, though it is more expensive. Consider the HP for cost-efficiency and everyday use, or the Surface if you need something lighter with a touch screen for more mobile and intensive tasks. Give Feedback

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 has a better screen than the HP 15" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 stands out with a vibrant display offering higher resolution and brightness, which makes text crisp and images vivid, while the HP 15" Laptop provides adequate clarity and brightness for everyday tasks but not as impressive details. The Surface Laptop Go 2's screen also excels in engineering and design due to a wider color gamut, offering richer and more accurate colors necessary for detailed work, whereas the HP's color range is sufficient but not ideal for color-critical tasks. Finally, for gaming and 3D, both laptops fall short as they lack high refresh rates required for smooth motion, though higher resolution and panel quality on the Surface Laptop Go 2 partially compensate, providing a clearer and better overall visual experience than the HP.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 to be only fair for gaming and AI, while the HP 15" Laptop is poor.
The HP 15" Laptop with Intel UHD Graphics and a 60 Hz refresh rate provides only a basic level of gaming performance; similarly, the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 with Intel Iris Xe Graphics and the same refresh rate offers fair capabilities for casual gaming and some 3D applications, but neither are equipped for intensive gaming due to their integrated graphics solutions. Both laptops have screens with decent quality but lack the high refresh rates and powerful GPUs preferred for a superior gaming and 3D experience.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 and HP 15" Laptop are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP 15" Laptop with an Intel i3 processor and UHD Graphics offers a fair performance for engineering and design tasks, but its larger screen size and heavier weight make it less portable compared to the more compact Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2, which has a more capable Intel i5 processor and Iris Xe graphics but a smaller, though higher-quality, screen. While both have ample RAM for moderate workloads, the Surface's superior resolution, touchscreen capability, and better color coverage might make it more appealing for design work, albeit with a trade-off in screen size and potential processing power constraints for very intensive tasks.

How the HP 15" Laptop and the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 compare to other laptops
"Chances are high that the HP 15 is one of the first laptops to pop up when you search for an inexpensive notebook. Indeed, its price tag is very tempting for many, and of course, this is the reason for its popularity. However, the HP 15" suffers from poor performance due to low power consumption. On the bright side, one of the good things about it is the port selection. On the inside, this includes two SODIMM slots for memory, an M.2 PCIe x4 slot for storage, and a SATA drive bay. However, the TN panel, and mediocre input devices are not ideal."
"The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 review is a compact companion with old hardware. The Surface Laptop Go 2 shows some weaknesses. Microsoft didn't really develop the second generation of the Surface Laptop Go 2 any further but has only equipped it with a slightly more powerful Core i5 processor. However, the performance still remains at a fairly low level overall, but for many users, it definitely should still be sufficient for everyday tasks."
