The HP 15" Laptop is a more cost-effective option with a solid battery life and good performance for general use, featuring a more traditional laptop appearance, and it lacks a touchscreen. In contrast, the HP Envy x360 15" is somewhat more expensive but offers better performance for 3D rendering, machine learning, and engineering tasks. It includes a touchscreen, which can enhance interactivity for certain tasks, and also has a slightly better battery life. However, it is heavier, which may affect portability if you plan to carry it around frequently. Both have similar display quality, but the Envy x360's higher contrast ratio might result in better visuals. The Envy x360 is also better equipped for entertainment with higher quality speakers and webcam. If you require a laptop with a more premium feel and the versatility of a 2-in-1 form factor, the Envy x360 would be the preferred choice, despite being the pricier of the two. Give Feedback

The HP Envy x360 15" has a better screen than the HP 15" Laptop for content creation, and software development.
For general use, both the HP 15" Laptop and the HP Envy x360 15" have screen qualities that are sufficient due to adequate resolution and brightness, but they may not have the most advanced panel types for outstanding visual clarity. In engineering and design, their fair screen quality is because they offer acceptable color accuracy covering some of the color gamuts, but may fall short for the most color-critical tasks. When it comes to gaming and 3D, the lack of high refresh rates and limitations in resolution and panel technology make both laptops less ideal for smooth and immersive visual experiences.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers HP Envy x360 15" to be only fair for gaming and AI, while the HP 15" Laptop is poor.
The HP 15" Laptop has an Intel UHD Graphics GPU and a 60Hz screen refresh rate, which limits performance in gaming and 3D applications, while the HP Envy x360 15" also shares the same 60Hz refresh rate but includes an AMD Vega 7 GPU, which offers modest graphics capabilities for these uses. Both laptops will serve for casual gaming and entry-level 3D tasks, but their CPUs and screen quality, although decent, aren't tailored for high-end gaming or professional 3D work.

The HP Envy x360 15" and HP 15" Laptop are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP 15" Laptop, with its Intel i3 CPU and integrated graphics, is less powerful and therefore provides adequate but not exceptional performance for CPU/GPU-demanding engineering tasks, coupled with a standard screen quality that is passable for design work but doesn't stand out for color accuracy or brightness. On the other hand, the HP Envy x360 15" offers slightly better processing and graphics with its AMD Ryzen 5 CPU and Vega 7 graphics, along with a touchscreen and better battery life, which can be beneficial for some engineering applications and design work; however, it is heavier and has a similar screen quality in terms of color coverage and brightness, which again, suffices for general use but is not ideal for color-sensitive design tasks.

How the HP 15" Laptop and the HP Envy x360 15" compare to other laptops
"Chances are high that the HP 15 is one of the first laptops to pop up when you search for an inexpensive notebook. Indeed, its price tag is very tempting for many, and of course, this is the reason for its popularity. However, the HP 15" suffers from poor performance due to low power consumption. On the bright side, one of the good things about it is the port selection. On the inside, this includes two SODIMM slots for memory, an M.2 PCIe x4 slot for storage, and a SATA drive bay. However, the TN panel, and mediocre input devices are not ideal."
"Despite its good looks, stellar webcam and comfortable keyboard, the Envy x360 15 is hard to recommend because of its dim, 16:9 display. If the display isn't an issue for you, just be sure to wait for a good sale price. Otherwise, a more modern two-in-one with a 16:10 display such as the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 or Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 provides a larger workspace without adding much to the size and weight of the system."
