Choosing between the HP 14" Laptop with a Ryzen 5 processor and the HP 15" Laptop with an Intel i3 processor depends on your preference for performance and screen size versus portability and price. The 14" model may perform better for intensive tasks and offers a smaller, more portable form at a higher price. In contrast, the 15" model provides a larger screen and lower cost but may not handle demanding applications as smoothly. Battery life and weight are similar, so consider whether screen real estate and savings are more critical than the potential performance boost and portability. Give Feedback

The HP 14" Laptop has a better screen than the HP 15" Laptop for content creation.
The HP 14" and HP 15" laptops have fair screen quality for general use due to average resolution and brightness levels, which are adequate for browsing and video streaming but may not be as vivid as higher-end displays. For engineering and design, despite the fair classification, the color coverage is limited, so professionals requiring precise colors for their work, like graphic designers, might find these screens lacking. When it comes to 3D and gaming, the lower refresh rates hinder the experience as they lead to less fluid motion, and while the resolution and panel types are serviceable, they don't match the high standards required for competitive gaming or immersive 3D applications.

The HP 15" Laptop and HP 14" Laptop are both only fair for general use.
The HP 14" Laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and 256GB storage offers balanced performance and is more portable due to its smaller size and lighter weight, but it has slightly less battery life than the HP 15" Laptop, which despite its bulkier size and an Intel i3 processor with only 128GB storage, includes a number pad and boasts longer battery life, making it suitable for those prioritizing screen size and battery over portability and storage. Both have comparable RAM and screen quality, which makes them fair choices for general use, yet neither excels in areas like speaker and build quality, keeping them from being outstanding in their class.

The HP 15" Laptop and HP 14" Laptop are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP 14" Laptop, with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor and integrated Vega 7 graphics, is suitable for some design and engineering tasks, but may be limited by its moderate CPU and GPU capabilities when handling more complex simulations or 3D modeling. The HP 15" Laptop, although it has a larger screen which is beneficial for such tasks, comes with an Intel i3-1215U processor and UHD Graphics that similarly may struggle with demanding engineering applications, while both laptops offer ample RAM and screen resolution but compromise on potential performance compared to more specialized workstations.

How the HP 14" Laptop and the HP 15" Laptop compare to other laptops
"This feels like an ideal laptop for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a laptop and isn’t too bothered by things like build quality or construction. It’s a laptop that will be used to pay bills, keep track of expenses, do some online shopping, and will be tucked away in a spare bedroom/home office. It’s an appliance designed to do a job without fuss. It’s not a premium experience—the materials do feel a little cheap, the display won’t exactly wow you, and the battery life is nothing to write home about, especially if you’ve used more expensive devices. But overall it’s not too shabby, especially for the price."
"Chances are high that the HP 15 is one of the first laptops to pop up when you search for an inexpensive notebook. Indeed, its price tag is very tempting for many, and of course, this is the reason for its popularity. However, the HP 15" suffers from poor performance due to low power consumption. On the bright side, one of the good things about it is the port selection. On the inside, this includes two SODIMM slots for memory, an M.2 PCIe x4 slot for storage, and a SATA drive bay. However, the TN panel, and mediocre input devices are not ideal."
