If your priority is high performance for tasks like 3D rendering or engineering, the MSI GP66 Leopard, with its powerful processor and high-end graphics, is a better fit despite being more expensive and having shorter battery life. Conversely, the Gateway 15.6" offers greater affordability, longer battery life, and is lighter, which makes it more suitable for general use and portability, though it doesn't match the MSI in terms of raw power for demanding applications. Both laptops have similar screen sizes and resolutions, but the MSI excels with better screen refresh rates and overall build quality, important aspects for gaming and intensive tasks. Give Feedback

The MSI GP66 Leopard is good for gaming and AI, while the Gateway 15.6" is only fair.
The Gateway 15.6" offers fair gaming and 3D capabilities due in part to its integrated Intel GPU and a 60Hz screen refresh rate. Additionally, CPU and screen quality also play a role; the MSI has a more powerful CPU and a higher screen brightness, further improving its performance and display over the Gateway.

The MSI GP66 Leopard has a better screen than the Gateway 15.6" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Gateway's screen may suffice for daily tasks due to adequate resolution and brightness, but lacks the wide color gamuts needed for precision in engineering and design, and falls short on refresh rate which is crucial for a fluid 3D gaming experience. The MSI GP66 Leopard, on the other hand, offers a balance of resolution and brightness suitable for both general and engineering uses, along with decent color reproduction, but doesn't meet the high refresh rates preferred by gamers for smooth 3D visuals. Therefore, while the MSI model is generally good across various tasks, neither laptop is ideal for gaming due to their subpar refresh rates.

How the Gateway 15.6" and the MSI GP66 Leopard compare to other laptops
"Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. Walmart's Gateway Ultra Slim laptops succeeds on the affordability front and delivers serviceable specs and good battery life, though it's hard to claim it's the best (or even particularly good) at any particular aspect. Its build quality, especially the touchpad, is mediocre, and its performance is decent but doesn't lead the way. The Gateway does undercut the cost of some competitors and offers ample storage with good connectivity, so it's not to be ignored."
"The MSI GP66 Leopard is a good budget high-performance gamer. The MSI also does a lot right outside of the pure performance despite it's low price. For example, the adaptive cooling system really surprised us positively, even in Extreme Performance Mode. And the display is not a budget panel either, but at least outshines the competition in terms of brightness. Of course, you also have to accept a few compromises in this price category. These include the Leopard's poor battery runtimes and the less than optimal build quality, which is also noticeable in the more complicated maintenance."
