The Gateway 15.6" is a more budget-friendly option with a lower midrange price and offers decent general performance for tasks like web browsing, video streaming, and office applications. It has a larger screen than some smaller laptops, but it's not built for intensive gaming or demanding tasks like 3D rendering or advanced machine learning. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aorus 17G is priced at a premium but provides a significant leap in performance with a powerful processor and high-end graphics card, making it an excellent choice for gaming, 3D work, and engineering applications. It also has a larger and better-quality display, but it is heavier and has lower battery life, making it less portable. If you prioritize portability and affordability, the Gateway could be sufficient, but if you require high performance for complex tasks and gaming and are willing to invest more, the Gigabyte Aorus 17G would be more suitable. The Gigabyte Aorus 17G and Gateway 15.6" are both good for general use, though the Gigabyte Aorus 17G is somewhat better.
The Gateway 15.6" offers good CPU performance for general use, has a solid keyboard and remains very quiet, which might appeal to those prioritizing a silent work environment; however, its build and heat management are less robust compared to the Gigabyte Aorus 17G. The Gigabyte Aorus 17G excels with a more powerful CPU, high-quality keyboard, better speaker and build quality, as well as superior heat management, making it a more suitable choice for those needing a robust laptop for varied tasks, but it is heavier and may not last as long on a single charge.

The Gigabyte Aorus 17G has a better screen than the Gateway 15.6" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Gateway may not have the best combination of panel type, resolution, and brightness, leading to its fair screen quality, while the Gigabyte Aorus 17G offers good screen quality likely due to a superior mix of these attributes. In engineering and design, critical color accuracy and breadth of color range are key; the Gigabyte Aorus may offer good color gamuts that cater well to these needs, whereas the Gateway's fair rating suggests it does not meet these criteria as effectively. With the importance of refresh rate for 3D applications, both the Gateway and the Gigabyte Aorus do not excel in this area, despite their possible adequate resolution and panel types.

How the Gateway 15.6" and the Gigabyte Aorus 17G compare to other laptops
"Some concessions have to be made when shopping for a budget laptop. Walmart's Gateway Ultra Slim laptops succeeds on the affordability front and delivers serviceable specs and good battery life, though it's hard to claim it's the best (or even particularly good) at any particular aspect. Its build quality, especially the touchpad, is mediocre, and its performance is decent but doesn't lead the way. The Gateway does undercut the cost of some competitors and offers ample storage with good connectivity, so it's not to be ignored."
"The Aorus 17G isn't among the top RTX 3080 laptops due to its relatively low TGP of 105 watts. The device's gaming performance is average for an RTX 3080. For maximum performance, competitors like the Lenovo Legion 7 or the Alienware m17 R4 are recommended With the Aorus 17G, Gigabyte delivers a well-rounded gaming laptop. However, the device generates a high noise level. Throttling is not an issue. The CPU and GPU can develop their performance uniformly. Nevertheless, the device produces a lot of noise under load - more than many competitors."
