Choosing between the Dell XPS 13 Plus and the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14" comes down to your needs and budget. If high performance, premium build, and a high-resolution OLED display are important, and you're willing to invest more, the Dell XPS 13 Plus is a superior choice. It’s better suited for intensive tasks such as professional design, editing, programming, or gaming. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14" is much more affordable, provides basic computing needs with lower performance suitable for casual use like web browsing, office applications, and media consumption; however, its screen is lower resolution, and it's not designed for demanding software or multitasking. The Dell XPS 13 Plus has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Dell XPS 13 Plus boasts a high-resolution display with substantial brightness and color accuracy, providing a sharp and vibrant viewing experience for general use and design tasks, but its standard refresh rate holds it back for high-end gaming, which typically demands faster screen updates. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14", on the other hand, with its lower resolution and brightness, underperforms for general activities and lacks the color gamut and clarity needed for professional engineering and design work; moreover, its modest panel fails to impress in gaming, where visuals are less fluid compared to those offered by displays with higher refresh rates. Overall, the Dell is well-suited for productivity and creative endeavors, while the Lenovo, although more budget-friendly, presents notable compromises in display performance across various applications.

"The XPS 13 Plus is powerful, but has its drawbacks. Dell did not only update the processor generation, but also decided to offer two completely different models from now on. The XPS 13 Plus gets the faster Intel Alder Lake-P chips, and the Core i7-1260P in our review unit offers good performance figures. However, the device once again shows the problems of the current Intel CPUs, because the high performance requires a lot of power. This affects the battery runtime as well as temperatures, so the new model (even with the Optimized power profile) is louder than the older model."
"The IdeaPad 1 14 is a simple machine, but it’s well-designed and has nearly everything you’d expect from a no-nonsense laptop that allows you to check emails and get schoolwork or other light tasks done with relative ease. A "true" 128GB SSD (as opposed to an eMMC drive) and a roomy 14-inch full HD display are arguably the star attractions, with the comfortable keyboard and reasonably modern styling playing important backup roles."
