The Dell Precision 5470 is often somewhat more expensive and offers great build quality, a higher portability score, and an excellent keyboard. It’s better for general use and has solid performance for engineering tasks with its advanced GPU. With a premium business appearance, it's a portable choice with a decent battery life. Meanwhile, the MSI GP66 Leopard is often somewhat less expensive, has a powerful GPU suitable for intensive gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning, but it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, making it less portable. It is optimized for high-refresh-rate gaming, though it may run hotter and louder. Give Feedback

The Dell Precision 5470 has a better screen than the MSI GP66 Leopard for software development, and content creation, while the MSI GP66 Leopard has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The Dell Precision 5470, with its high resolution and panel quality, offers a crisp and bright display suitable for everyday tasks and detail-oriented work such as engineering and design, where color accuracy is also crucial. However, its lower refresh rate makes fast-paced visuals in gaming and 3D applications less smooth compared to specialized gaming laptops. The MSI GP66 Leopard, similarly, provides a fine display for daily activities and professional design with good color reproduction, but falls short for gaming and 3D content creation due to its refresh rate not matching that of dedicated gaming screens.

How the Dell Precision 5470 and the MSI GP66 Leopard compare to other laptops
"The Dell Precision 5470 is a mobile workstation that's far more portable than most alternatives. Between its slim 14-inch design and top-quality MIL-STD 810H build, it's one of the best options around for taking professional-grade performance on the road or to the job site. There are tradeoffs for its portability, and users of the most demanding, graphics-intensive applications will need to carry something heavier. But the Dell's exceptional battery life underscores its desirability as the most portable workstation we've seen."
"The MSI GP66 Leopard is a good budget high-performance gamer. The MSI also does a lot right outside of the pure performance despite it's low price. For example, the adaptive cooling system really surprised us positively, even in Extreme Performance Mode. And the display is not a budget panel either, but at least outshines the competition in terms of brightness. Of course, you also have to accept a few compromises in this price category. These include the Leopard's poor battery runtimes and the less than optimal build quality, which is also noticeable in the more complicated maintenance."
