The Dell Precision 5470 is sleek, lightweight, and offers professional-grade graphics suitable for engineering and general use; however, its gaming performance is limited compared to the HP Omen 17. On the other hand, the HP Omen 17 is a gaming powerhouse with stronger graphics performance for 3D applications, gaming, and possibly machine learning tasks at a somewhat less expensive cost. It is bulkier and heavy, making it less portable than the Precision 5470. The Precision is more expensive and may offer better build quality and is tailored towards professional environments, while the Omen provides better value for gaming and entertainment-focused users. PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2022
"The Dell Precision 5470 is a mobile workstation that's far more portable than most alternatives. Between its slim 14-inch design and top-quality MIL-STD 810H build, it's one of the best options around for taking professional-grade performance on the road or to the job site. There are tradeoffs for its portability, and users of the most demanding, graphics-intensive applications will need to carry something heavier. But the Dell's exceptional battery life underscores its desirability as the most portable workstation we've seen."

NotebookCheck

Marc Herter | September 2022
"The HP Omen 17 (2022) gaming laptop has a stylish case and hardware with lots of potential. The HP Omen 17 is a fairly unobtrusive gaming laptop. A material combination of plastic and metal gives the case a high stability and a quality surface feel. The unspectacular design is pleasing and is hardly indicative of the laptop's high performance potential. The Intel Core i7-12700H in particular is able to perform well once again. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is also strong in the gaming notebook. Demanding games run smoothly in Full HD resolution. The HP Omen 17 is a good gaming laptop that delivers partly excellent performance. But even at this performance level, cheaper alternatives are available."
