To decide between the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 and the Dell XPS 13, consider the following: the Inspiron 16 5635 offers more screen real estate which is better for multitasking and is often chosen for demanding tasks like video editing, but it can be heavier and bulkier, reducing its portability compared to the XPS 13. The XPS 13 is typically more portable due to its smaller size, making it an excellent choice for travel and on-the-go use, at the expense of a smaller screen. If battery life is a priority, the XPS 13 may have an advantage due to its likely more efficient use of power associated with its smaller display and possibly more power-efficient components. However, if performance is a key concern, and you engage in tasks such as 3D rendering, machine learning, or gaming, the Inspiron 16 5635 may have the edge due to potentially more robust hardware suitable for such demands, acknowledging that this comes with a higher cost. The Dell Inspiron 16 5635 has a better screen than the Dell XPS 13 for software development, and content creation, while the Dell XPS 13 has a better screen for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, the Dell XPS 13 excels with its high resolution and bright display, offering crisp visuals and comfortable viewing, whereas the Dell Inspiron 16's lower brightness and resolution result in a less vibrant experience. In engineering and design, where precise color representation is key, the XPS 13's wide color gamuts ensure accurate color work, but the Inspiron 16, with narrower color coverage, falls short for professional color-critical tasks. For gaming and 3D applications, the high refresh rate is crucial for smooth motion, and while both laptops may not offer high refresh rates needed for optimal gaming, their limitations in resolution and panel type are less of a concern for users not prioritizing gaming performance.

How the Dell Inspiron 16 5635 and the Dell XPS 13 compare to other laptops
"Compared to the previous year’s Inspiron, Dell upgraded the screen aspect ratio on this generation, but also transitioned to a more minimalistic centered keyboard flanked by up-firing speakers. The 16-inch screen is huge plus and I really appreciate the extra real estate without sacrificing the footprint much. This year’s model is a little larger than last, though, as the former model was already very small for a 15 incher."
"In the past, the XPS 13 was a hands-down contender for the best laptop on the market. But the Apple-silicon MacBook has since barrelled onto the scene, and it wipes the floor with most of the ultraportable Windows laptops that cross my desk on a daily basis. This XPS is no exception. Compared to the M2 MacBook Air, battery life is worse."
