If you're looking for a cost-effective option for everyday tasks like web browsing, office applications, and streaming, the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 will likely serve your needs well and save you money. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14, while more expensive, offers higher performance suited to demanding activities such as 3D modeling, machine learning, or gaming, and it typically has better build quality and reliability that might appeal for business use. ThinkPads generally have longer battery life and portability features which are valuable if you travel often, whereas the Inspiron's larger form factor makes it less convenient for frequent mobility. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 is very good for general use, while the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 is good.
The Dell Inspiron 15 3530 offers a solid balance between CPU performance, ample RAM, and screen quality that suits everyday tasks, but the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 goes a step further with enhanced portability and longer battery life, making it an excellent choice for those who prioritize mobility and extended use away from power sources. The Dell Inspiron 15 3530, with its robust CPU and ample RAM, handles complex engineering applications smoothly and its high-quality screen displays graphics sharply, but the Lenovo ThinkPad T14, while offering similar performance, adds the benefits of a more comfortable keyboard and quieter operation, making it a better choice for extended work sessions, though it may be less portable due to a slightly heavier build. Both laptops come with dedicated GPUs to assist with demanding design tasks, but the ThinkPad’s better speaker quality can enhance the experience during presentations or media consumption.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14 has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Dell Inspiron 15 3530 offers adequate clarity and brightness for everyday tasks but its limited color range and lower resolution may not suffice for precision work in engineering. How the Dell Inspiron 15 3530 and the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 compare to other laptops
"We like a lot about this laptop. It has many ports, with the inclusion of RJ45-Ethernet as a defining feature. WWAN is upgradable for maximum flexibility and the ThinkPad has many security functions. Working with the ThinkPad input devices is a lot of fun, and Lenovo puts in a serviceable Low Power panel. The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U delivers a great performance and does not drain the battery fast. Fan noise and temperatures are nothing special, but also far away from bad. With the user replaceable keyboard, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 has a special feature rarely present on most modern laptops."
