The Dell Inspiron 15 3520 is a more cost-effective choice that still provides decent performance for day-to-day tasks with its Intel i3 processor and integrated graphics. It's lighter and has an average battery life, making it suitable for portability and general use. However, the Lenovo Legion 5 15" offers a much more powerful AMD Ryzen processor and Nvidia RTX graphics card, larger storage, and higher RAM, making it better for gaming, 3D work, and intensive engineering programs. The trade-off for the Legion's enhanced performance is a heftier build and possibly shorter battery life due to its higher-spec components. It also has a higher resolution screen for more detailed visuals. In summary, go for the Dell if affordability and basic tasks are priorities, or the Lenovo if you need high performance for demanding applications and are prepared to invest more.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15" has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 15 3520 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the Dell Inspiron's screen offers an acceptable level of clarity and brightness, but the Lenovo Legion's screen surpasses it with sharper resolution and more vibrant colors, making it very good for everyday tasks. In engineering and design, both displays provide reasonable color accuracy; however, the Legion slightly edges out with better coverage of professional color gamuts, translating to more precise color representation for detailed work. When it comes to 3D tasks, both the Dell Inspiron and Lenovo Legion fall short on high refresh rates, which are crucial for smooth visuals, hence their lower evaluation in this area despite reasonable resolutions and panel technologies.

How the Dell Inspiron 15 3520 and the Lenovo Legion 5 15" compare to other laptops
"Dell's Inspiron 15 (3525) is a peppy-enough and affordable-enough home or remote work machine, but it's not very ambitious; it does little to go beyond the basics. More the concern: It’s readily overshadowed by a number of machines that outperform and outclass it. Even if the Inspiron can get the job done today, its competition has the mettle to keep doing the job tomorrow in a way the Inspiron simply can’t promise. Plus, those alternatives are much more enjoyable after work."
"The Lenovo Legion 5 15 is an affordable gaming laptop with a lot of power. The new AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H offers plenty of performance and it is also very efficient. The combination with the fast 130W version of the GeForce RTX 3060 ensures high gaming performance. We also like the fast 165 Hz display with the 1080p resolution. The automatic graphics switching causes some problems with stutters, which are very annoying. If you do not need long battery runtimes, you should definitely deactivate the hybrid graphics mode in Lenovo's Vantage app. The Legion 5 15 is never silent."
