The Dell Inspiron 15 3511 offers a balance of affordability and functionality, making it suitable for daily tasks and light productivity work, with the advantage of being significantly less expensive. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aorus 15X packs more power, with features tailored for high-performance tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming, but it is considerably more costly. The Aorus 15X has a more robust CPU, higher screen resolution, and more advanced graphics capabilities. Additionally, it carries a weight penalty compared to the lighter Dell. If budget constraints are critical, the Dell may suffice; however, those seeking top-tier performance for demanding applications will find the Aorus 15X to be a better fit despite its higher cost and reduced portability. The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is very good for engineering and design, while the Dell Inspiron 15 3511 is good.
The Dell Inspiron 15 3511, with its Intel i5 CPU and Iris Xe GPU, offers adequate performance for engineering and design but may not handle the most intensive tasks smoothly, while the screen quality is sufficient for general use. In contrast, the Gigabyte Aorus 15X boasts a higher-end Intel i9 CPU and Nvidia RTX GPU, making it exceptional for demanding engineering software and design work, plus its superior screen offers better color accuracy and resolution, but this comes with a tradeoff in portability due to its increased size and weight.

The Gigabyte Aorus 15X has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 15 3511 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When picking a laptop for general use, the Dell Inspiron's fair screen features such as resolution and brightness make it suitable, while the Gigabyte Aorus 15X's higher quality display offers crisper and brighter visuals. For engineering and design work, where accurate color representation is key, the Aorus 15X with its good coverage of color gamuts stands out compared to the Inspiron's fair performance. However, for gaming and 3D applications, both laptops fall short due to their poor refresh rates, although the Aorus might offer slightly better visuals due to its resolution and panel type.

How the Dell Inspiron 15 3511 and the Gigabyte Aorus 15X compare to other laptops
"The Dell Inspiron 15 3000 (3511) is a solid, if unremarkable, 15-inch budget laptop. It improves on many of the issues we had with the previous 3505 model, and with the inclusion of Windows 11, the 3511 is already a step above its competition. The lack of a USB-C port, the subpar speakers, and the dim display are drawbacks to factor in, but it's still one of the better 15-inch budget laptops on the market, especially when you consider it's under $400."
"The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is a strong showing of Raptor Lake and RTX 4000 series. While the Aorus had trouble keeping up in older games like Grand Theft Auto V, it nudged past the competition in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It also flexed its next-generation muscle in Far Cry 6 and Borderlands 3. While we were impressed with the overall build quality and design of the Aorus 15X, the keyboard lacked good tactile feedback. The display performed well in real-world testing despite its on-paper shortcoming with brightness, but the speakers are lackluster at best."
