Choose the Dell Inspiron 14 5420 if you prioritize a more premium business look, slightly better build quality, and quieter fan noise, along with a dedicated Nvidia graphics card for engineering work. However, the Lenovo Flex 5 16 offers a larger touchscreen display, better color coverage for creative tasks, and longer battery life, all at a lower cost. The Flex 5 is also heavier and might be less suitable for frequent travel, while it lacks a dedicated GPU which may affect performance in graphics-intensive applications. Both laptops have similar processors and RAM, making them capable for general use and multitasking. Give Feedback

The Lenovo Flex 5 16 has a better screen than the Dell Inspiron 14 5420 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
For general use, where reading text and viewing websites are common, the Lenovo Flex 5 16's higher resolution and brighter display make it more appealing than the Dell Inspiron 14 5420, enhancing clarity and visibility. When it comes to engineering and design, the Lenovo Flex 5 again takes the lead because it covers a wider range of color gamuts, making it more suitable for tasks that require accurate color representation. However, both laptops fall short for gaming and 3D applications as neither offers a high refresh rate, which is critical for smooth motion and gameplay, making them less optimal for these purposes.

How the Dell Inspiron 14 5420 and the Lenovo Flex 5 16 compare to other laptops
"If laptops were food, then the Dell Inspiron 14 5420 is arguably a Big Mac. There are cheaper and more expensive options, but this arguably represents the baseline of quality and value in the world of mobile computing… something that’s underlined by the attractive $1,279 price tag."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 is a solidly equipped, 2-in-1 in the lower price segment. Performance is definitely sufficient for everyday tasks and in tests the battery proved itself to be very economical. That aside, there is a lot of standard fare on show and a search for real highlights ends in vain. The low color coverage and reflective display can be avoided by going for an optional 2.5K display but this also presumably results in poorer battery life. The cooling uses only one fan and leads to a raised temperature on one side of the device under load. Additionally, there is very loud fan noise, also under load or when gaming. On top of that, we also occasionally noticed electronic noises."
