If performance and gaming are your top priorities and you're okay with a heavier and bulkier laptop, the Dell Alienware X17 R2 offers powerful processing and graphics capabilities, which is reflected in its higher price. However, for those who value a balance of performance, portability, and cost-effectiveness, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is lighter and offers decent performance for everyday use and less demanding games at a lower price point. The trade-off with the Lenovo is in its lesser performance compared to the Dell, but it compensates with significantly better battery life and ease of carrying around. Give Feedback

The Dell Alienware X17 R2 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" is good.
The Dell Alienware X17 R2 stands out for gaming and 3D applications due to its high-end GPU, the Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti, and an impressive screen refresh rate of up to 480Hz, ensuring fluid movement and responsiveness. In contrast, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" also offers good gaming performance with its Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU but has a lower screen refresh rate of 165Hz, which may not be as smooth as the Alienware but still provides an enjoyable gaming experience.

The Dell Alienware X17 R2 has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Dell Alienware X17 R2 boasts a high-resolution display along with superior brightness and panel quality, which makes for a crystal-clear image that's ideal for daily tasks and professional design work, but its lower refresh rate can hinder the gaming or 3D modelling experience where fluid motion is key. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7, while also having a good resolution and adequate brightness, may offer a balanced experience for both general and design purposes, but similarly falls short for gaming due to a refresh rate that doesn't match the demands of fast-paced visuals. For both laptops, while their color accuracy and range will satisfy those working in engineering and design, gamers and 3D artists may seek alternatives with higher refresh rates to enhance the smoothness of dynamic scenes.

How the Dell Alienware X17 R2 and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15.6" compare to other laptops
"The Alienware x17 R2 recognizes targets a significantly higher TGP of 175 W for a roughly 30 percent performance boost over laptops running on the ~100 W GeForce RTX 3080 Ti like the Razer Blade 15 or Gigabyte Aero YE5. Similar results can be found through the CPU as well. This single aspect of the Alienware is perhaps the biggest differentiating factor between it and other ultrathin gaming laptops. Of course, the "performance at all cost" approach comes with drawbacks. Power consumption in particular is through the roof and battery life suffers because of it even when on the lowest performance settings."
"The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is a slim Legion notebook that is just as excellent with Nvidia & Intel. However, the Legion Slim 7i slightly sullied by lacklustre battery life. You get a slim aluminium chassis, great input devices, decent port selection, fast high-quality WQXGA display and great performance. Supporting Thunderbolt 4 is one advantage of the Intel/Nvidia model tested in this review. Moreover, this variant has slightly higher CPU performance as well as better GPU performance in certain applications (e.g. CUDA-based apps). The Lenovo Legion S7i is thin, premium and performant – but less efficient than its AMD counterpart."
