If high performance in 3D work, machine learning, or gaming is a priority, and you're okay with a higher price, the Dell Alienware X17 R2 stands out with its powerful processor, high-end graphics, and overall strong engineering performance. Keep in mind, it's heavier and has a shorter battery life, making it less portable. On the other hand, the HP 17" Laptop is more budget-friendly and lighter, with longer battery life, which is great for everyday tasks and portability. However, its performance in intensive tasks and gaming won't match the Dell due to its less powerful graphics and processor. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | May 2022
"The Alienware x17 R2 recognizes targets a significantly higher TGP of 175 W for a roughly 30 percent performance boost over laptops running on the ~100 W GeForce RTX 3080 Ti like the Razer Blade 15 or Gigabyte Aero YE5. Similar results can be found through the CPU as well. This single aspect of the Alienware is perhaps the biggest differentiating factor between it and other ultrathin gaming laptops. Of course, the "performance at all cost" approach comes with drawbacks. Power consumption in particular is through the roof and battery life suffers because of it even when on the lowest performance settings."

PCMag

Francisco Lahoz | November 2022
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
