The Dell Alienware m17 R5 is a robust gaming laptop with a larger 17.3-inch screen, making it less portable but excellent for immersive gaming experiences and engineering tasks due to its powerful AMD Ryzen 7 processor and Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics. It offers a higher refresh rate for smoother gameplay and has a more extensive range of ports, including Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C charging. However, its battery life is shorter, and it's heavier, which could be a drawback for frequent travelers. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 is a versatile 2-in-1 device with a stunning 14-inch OLED touchscreen, offering vibrant colors and higher resolution, which is ideal for general use and content consumption. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor provides good performance for everyday tasks while maintaining excellent battery life, and its slim, lightweight design enhances portability. The Galaxy Book4 Edge also features an included stylus for note-taking or drawing, which could be beneficial for creative work. However, its Adreno 750 GPU is less powerful than the Alienware's RTX 3060, making it less suitable for intensive gaming or specialized engineering applications. Ultimately, if you prioritize performance for gaming and engineering tasks and don't mind a bulkier device, the Alienware m17 R5 is the way to go. But if you value portability, battery life, and a versatile 2-in-1 design with a superior display for general use, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 would be the better choice. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Christian Hintze | January 2023
"Overall, the all-AMD system in the Alienware m17 R5 is impressive, especially the graphics performance. However, various driver issues and unnecessary inconsistencies prevent us from truly enjoying such a potent gaming machine. In addition to strong 3D performance, we particularly like the build quality, the fairly bright UHD display with high color space coverage, and the fact that the gamer is often quiet when not under load and also rather quieter than some competitors under load."
