The Dell Alienware m17 R5 generally costs less and offers a larger screen and robust gaming performance. Its battery life isn't great, and it's less portable due to a heavier build. If you're seeking better portability and more power for intensive 3D or machine learning tasks, the Gigabyte Aorus 15X, with its higher-price tag, is a compelling choice, also featuring a higher resolution display and superior battery life. However, it's also not as portable but does outperform in terms of overall capability, sporting a more powerful processor and graphics card. Both are suitable for gaming and engineering but cater to different priorities regarding portability and performance. Give Feedback

The Gigabyte Aorus 15X has a better screen than the Dell Alienware m17 R5 for general use, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering screen quality for general use, the Dell Alienware m17 R5 provides satisfactory visuals with its resolution and brightness but may not stand out, whereas the Gigabyte Aorus 15X shines with very good image clarity due to its superior panel type and overall luminance. For engineering and design tasks, both laptops deliver good quality, as their screens cover a broad range of colors within professional color gamuts, crucial for precision in visual work. However, for gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key, their lower refresh rates could lead to less fluid visuals compared to laptops with higher refresh rate screens, making them less ideal for fast-paced or professional-level gaming and 3D rendering.

How the Dell Alienware m17 R5 and the Gigabyte Aorus 15X compare to other laptops
"Overall, the all-AMD system in the Alienware m17 R5 is impressive, especially the graphics performance. However, various driver issues and unnecessary inconsistencies prevent us from truly enjoying such a potent gaming machine. In addition to strong 3D performance, we particularly like the build quality, the fairly bright UHD display with high color space coverage, and the fact that the gamer is often quiet when not under load and also rather quieter than some competitors under load."
"The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is a strong showing of Raptor Lake and RTX 4000 series. While the Aorus had trouble keeping up in older games like Grand Theft Auto V, it nudged past the competition in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It also flexed its next-generation muscle in Far Cry 6 and Borderlands 3. While we were impressed with the overall build quality and design of the Aorus 15X, the keyboard lacked good tactile feedback. The display performed well in real-world testing despite its on-paper shortcoming with brightness, but the speakers are lackluster at best."
