When deciding between the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, consider the Vivobook if you prioritize a lower cost and a lightweight, more portable option with the basics for everyday use like internet browsing and document editing. If you lean towards better performance for more demanding tasks like multitasking, occasional photo editing, or lighter gaming, and don’t mind spending more, the IdeaPad offers a more powerful processor, higher-quality display, more memory and storage. However, it's also larger and heavier, which could make it less convenient to carry around. Give Feedback

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 12 has a lower-end CPU, less RAM, and a lower-resolution TN screen, which make it less suitable for multitasking and less pleasant for media consumption compared to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, which has a more powerful CPU, double the RAM, and a higher-resolution IPS screen. Additionally, while the IdeaPad Slim 3 is heavier and has a larger screen, contributing to its lower portability score, it also offers a better keyboard, longer battery life, and higher build quality, which overall makes it a more versatile laptop for general use.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 and ASUS Vivobook Go 12 are both poor for gaming and AI, though the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is somewhat better.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 12 falls short in gaming and 3D due to its basic Intel Celeron processor and Intel UHD Graphics 600, which are only suited for simple tasks and low performance needs in contrast to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, which has a more capable AMD Ryzen processor and Vega 6 graphics that can handle gaming and 3D content more effectively, albeit still at a basic level. Additionally, the higher screen resolution and IPS panel on the Lenovo provide better screen quality, contributing to its fair gaming and 3D capabilities, compared to the lower resolution and TN panel of the ASUS which contribute to its poor performance in these areas.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is only fair for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is inadequate for engineering and design tasks because it has a low-powered Intel Celeron processor, limited RAM, and a basic Intel UHD Graphics GPU, coupled with a lower resolution TN screen, which provides poor visual quality and color representation.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 12 has lower resolution and brightness, which affects the sharpness and visibility of content, making it less suitable for any tasks requiring screen detail and clarity. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, with slightly better resolution and brightness, provides a more comfortable viewing experience for general and engineering tasks but lacks the color accuracy professionals need. Neither model is ideal for gaming and 3D work due to limited color range and lower refresh rates, which are essential for fluid motion and immersive visuals in those fields.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | May 2023
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3i is decent for use as a workstation. Its Intel CPU and integrated graphics can only handle light productivity tasks, not demanding workloads like video editing or 3D graphics. You also can't do any color-critical work because the available displays have a narrow color gamut. It has a good port selection, but its USB-C lacks Thunderbolt 4 support. On the upside, it has a comfortable keyboard and doesn't get hot or loud under load."
