The ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is a more budget-friendly option that is suitable for basic tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and media consumption. Due to its smaller size and lighter weight, it's also more portable, making it a good choice for someone who is always on the move. However, its performance is limited by a less powerful processor and graphics, which means it's not suitable for intensive tasks. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15 costs more but offers significantly better performance with a powerful processor and dedicated graphics card, making it well-suited for gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering software. It features a larger and higher resolution screen, but this also means it is less portable and has a shorter battery life. If your work requires handling intensive applications or you enjoy gaming, the HP Victus 15 would be a better choice, while for everyday activities and greater mobility, the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 should suffice. The HP Victus 15 is good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 12's lower-end CPU and minimal RAM make it sluggish for day-to-day tasks, while its inferior screen quality and lower storage capacity limit its effectiveness for general use. In contrast, the HP Victus 15's more powerful CPU, ample RAM, and better screen provide a smoother and more enjoyable general use experience, despite being less portable and having a shorter battery life.

The HP Victus 15 is only fair for engineering and design, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is poor.
The ASUS Vivobook Go 12 is less suitable for engineering and design due to its basic CPU, limited RAM, and integrated GPU that are below the requirements for such demanding tasks, along with a lower-quality TN screen. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15 is equipped with a more powerful CPU, double the RAM, a dedicated gaming-grade GPU, and a superior IPS display, making it well-suited for engineering and design applications that require high processing power and graphical capabilities.

The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook Go 12 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
For general use, the HP Victus 15's screen provides a clear and vivid display due to its higher resolution and brightness, making it more comfortable for everyday tasks, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 12's lower resolution and dimmer screen may result in less sharp and less vibrant visuals. When considering engineering and design work, the Victus 15's screen, with its fair representation of color gamuts, offers a more accurate color display for projects that demand color precision, whereas the Vivobook Go 12's poor color range can lead to less accurate color work. For gaming and 3D applications, the refresh rate becomes crucial, and while both laptops may not deliver the smoothest experience due to lower refresh rates, the HP Victus 15's fair resolution and panel type at least offer a tolerable visual setup, where the Vivobook Go 12 falls short.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
