The ASUS Vivobook 17 offers a budget-friendly option with a large 17.3-inch screen, making it suitable for those who prioritize screen size and are looking for a cost-effective choice for general use. It's equipped with an Intel i3-1220P processor and integrated UHD graphics, which will handle everyday tasks well but may struggle with more demanding applications like gaming or intensive engineering tasks. The battery life is modest, and the laptop is less portable due to its size and weight. It has a decent selection of ports, including USB-C and HDMI, and features a backlit keyboard without a number pad. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 is a midrange priced laptop with a high-resolution OLED touchscreen that delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks, ideal for media consumption and creative work. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite X1E80 processor and Adreno 750 GPU offer good performance for general use and can handle some 3D tasks, though it may not match the performance of dedicated gaming laptops. The Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 is also more portable, with a slim and light design, and offers a longer battery life. It comes with a stylus for drawing or note-taking, and its 2-in-1 design adds versatility for those who want both a laptop and a tablet experience. Additionally, it has a fingerprint reader for secure login and a webcam that's above average in quality. In summary, if you need a larger screen and are focused on budget and general productivity, the ASUS Vivobook 17 is a solid choice. However, if you value portability, battery life, and a superior display, and are willing to spend more for those features, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 would be the better option, especially for creative tasks and media consumption. NotebookCheck

Marvin Gollor | May 2022
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
