The ASUS Vivobook 17 is less expensive, and with its Intel i3 processor and integrated graphics, it's suitable for general use and light productivity tasks. However, it has half the storage capacity of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and weighs more, making it less portable. The Lenovo has a more robust AMD Ryzen 5 processor with better integrated graphics, which could handle more intensive tasks and light gaming more efficiently. Both have a similar screen size and quality, but if you need better performance and additional storage, the Lenovo might justify the higher price, despite it being somewhat heavier than the ASUS. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" and ASUS Vivobook 17 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 17 is equipped with less powerful Intel UHD integrated graphics, which along with a standard 60Hz display, places constraints on high-performance gaming and complex 3D rendering, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" boasts slightly better AMD Vega 7 integrated graphics and a similar 60Hz screen, offering somewhat improved but still limited gaming and 3D capabilities. Neither laptop, however, is designed specifically for gaming, as indicated by their appearance and hardware configurations, making them suitable for only light gaming and less demanding 3D applications.

How the ASUS Vivobook 17 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
