For everyday tasks, the ASUS Vivobook 17 offers a budget-friendly option with a large screen, making it suitable for general use where portability isn't a priority. However, its performance is limited by the Intel i3 processor and integrated graphics, which won't suffice for gaming or intensive engineering tasks. The battery life is modest, but the laptop is quite portable for its size. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED is a more premium choice with a vibrant OLED display, offering better color accuracy and contrast, which is great for media consumption and light photo editing. It's equipped with a more powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 processor and dedicated Intel Arc graphics, providing better performance for light gaming and creative work. It's also more compact and has a longer battery life, making it ideal for users who need a balance of performance and portability. However, it comes with a higher price tag and fewer ports, which might be a drawback if you need to connect multiple devices simultaneously. Ultimately, if you value a larger screen and cost savings for basic tasks, the Vivobook 17 is the way to go. But if you're looking for a more portable laptop with superior display quality and better performance for light gaming and creative tasks, the Vivobook S 14 OLED is the better choice, despite its higher cost. NotebookCheck

Marvin Gollor | May 2022
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
