If you prioritize portability and are on a tighter budget, the MSI Modern 14 is lighter and generally less expensive, but it has half the storage capacity of the ASUS Vivobook 16 and a slightly smaller screen. On the other hand, the ASUS Vivobook 16 is a bit heavier, usually pricier, but comes with a larger, higher-resolution screen that may offer better visuals and space for multitasking. The Vivobook also has a better battery life for typical use. If your work involves multitasking or you prefer a larger display, the ASUS Vivobook could be a better choice, providing you don't mind a little extra weight and cost. Give Feedback

The ASUS Vivobook 16 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for software development, and content creation.
For general use, both the ASUS Vivobook 16 and MSI Modern 14 have adequate resolution and brightness, and a panel type that offers a clear view, making them suitable for everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing. When it comes to engineering and design, their fair screen quality is due to decent color reproduction, but professionals might find the limited color gamuts less than ideal for precise color work. Regarding gaming and 3D tasks, the lower refresh rates of these laptops mean less fluid motion, and while they handle moderate complexity in visuals, they're not optimal for high-end gaming or intense 3D rendering.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the MSI Modern 14 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
