To help you make a decision between the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15", consider how you'll use the laptop. If you need high performance for tasks like video editing or gaming, the ASUS might be better, even if it costs a bit more, but if long battery life and portability are top priorities, and you're focused on general use like web browsing and office work, the Lenovo IdeaPad could be more suitable. The ASUS may also have a larger screen, which is great for multitasking and media consumption, but it could make the laptop heavier and less convenient to carry around. Choose the Lenovo IdeaPad for a balance of performance and portability, especially if you're budget-conscious, or the ASUS Vivobook if you're willing to invest in stronger performance and a larger display. The ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" have similar screen quality.
For general use, both the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" offer screens with adequate resolution and brightness that ensure a comfortable viewing experience for everyday tasks like browsing and streaming. However, for engineering and design professionals who require precise color representation, the lack of wide color gamut coverage on these laptops means colors may not be as accurate as needed for high-level design work. While gaming and 3D applications benefit from high refresh rates for smoother visuals, both laptops have lower refresh rates which can lead to less fluid motion during fast-paced scenes.

The ASUS Vivobook 16 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" both have integrated AMD Vega 8 graphics which offer moderate gaming and 3D capabilities but aren't as powerful as dedicated gaming GPUs, and both have a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate that is fair for casual gaming but not ideal for high-level competitive gaming which benefits from higher refresh rates. Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers ASUS Vivobook 16 to be good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 is better suited for engineering and design tasks due to its more powerful CPU, double the RAM for handling complex tasks, and a larger, higher-resolution screen which aids in detail-oriented work. How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15" compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is convincing due to its long battery life. The device scores points especially with its large battery and long battery runtimes combined with its low consumption. The CPU and GPU perform in the test as one would expect, and in line with what was familiar from the somewhat smaller 14-inch sister model, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14."
