The ASUS Vivobook 15 comes at a slightly lower price and has the convenience of a number pad and a larger 15.6-inch screen, making it suitable for general use and multitasking. However, its storage and RAM are on the lower end, and its performance in 3D, machine learning, and engineering tasks is relatively moderate due to the Intel i3 processor and integrated graphics. Meanwhile, the MSI Modern 14, though slightly more expensive, offers more storage and RAM, which significantly improves performance - especially for engineering and intensive tasks, thanks to its AMD Ryzen 5 processor and Vega graphics. It is also more portable with its lighter weight and smaller 14-inch screen, but lacks a number pad. Both laptops have comparable battery life and are not designed for intensive gaming. NotebookCheck

Sascha Mölck, | April 2022
"The Asus VivoBook 15 is a quiet office notebook with a strong screen. However, the VivoBook 15 still has room for improvement. Office and internet applications as well as simple games do not pose any major challenges for the VivoBook - this is ensured by the built-in combination of Ryzen 7 5700U APU and 16 GB of RAM. Heat and noise emissions are acceptable. But, the laptop has weaknesses that should not be present at this level: lack of keyboard lighting, a slow memory card reader, no fast USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Battery runtimes can only be described as average."

Rtings

Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
