The ASUS Vivobook 14 typically offers affordability and portability best suited for general use, like web browsing and document editing. If you prioritize lower cost and a compact design for easy transportation, it can be a good choice. However, the HP Victus 15, being pricier, generally provides stronger performance for demanding tasks such as gaming, 3D rendering, or machine learning. It may have a heftier build and shorter battery life due to its powerful components. Select the HP Victus 15 for high-performance needs despite its higher price and reduced portability, or opt for the ASUS Vivobook 14 for casual use and better portability at a lower price point. The HP Victus 15 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
Considering the factors you've highlighted for each use case, the ASUS Vivobook 14 may have limitations in its resolution or brightness which can be adequate for daily tasks but falls short for more vibrant and detailed engineering work, and its lower refresh rate wouldn't suit the fast-paced visuals required in gaming or 3D rendering. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15 with better overall screen quality could provide sharper and brighter images for general tasks and more color-rich experiences necessary for engineering, but still lacks the high refresh rate crucial for the smoothness in 3D applications. Neither option would be ideal for high-end gaming or professional 3D work due to their limited refresh rates, but the HP has a slight edge for general and engineering usage due to its better display features.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers HP Victus 15 to be good for general use, while the ASUS Vivobook 14 is only fair.
The HP Victus 15 outperforms the ASUS Vivobook 14 in general use due to its more powerful Intel i5 CPU, better gaming-capable Nvidia RTX GPU, and double the storage space, which makes it well-suited for a broader range of tasks including some gaming and heavier applications. However, it is heavier and has lower portability compared to the lighter ASUS Vivobook 14, which also offers slightly better battery life but with a less vibrant screen and less storage.

The HP Victus 15 and ASUS Vivobook 14 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 14's gaming and 3D capabilities are limited by its integrated graphics (Iris Xe) and a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate, whereas the HP Victus 15's dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU and higher 144Hz screen refresh rate offer better performance for these tasks despite both having similar CPU power and screen quality.

The HP Victus 15 and ASUS Vivobook 14 are both only fair for engineering and design.
The HP Victus 15 outperforms the ASUS Vivobook 14 for engineering and design primarily due to its more powerful Intel H-series processor and dedicated Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU, which are essential for intensive tasks and complex graphics. While both have similar RAM amounts, the HP's superior CPU and GPU, along with a higher quality screen, make it more suited for demanding applications, albeit at the cost of being heavier and potentially less portable than the lighter ASUS Vivobook 14.

How the ASUS Vivobook 14 and the HP Victus 15 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
