The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 has a better screen than the HP 17" Laptop for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 likely has a display that balances resolution and brightness, making it appealing for everyday tasks and detailed engineering work, but its lower refresh rate can detract from the smooth visuals crucial for gaming and 3D applications. The HP 17" laptop probably offers an adequate resolution and brightness for casual use and some technical work, but it may lack the advanced color gamut necessary for precise engineering and design tasks, and like the ASUS, it falls short in refresh rate, limiting performance for 3D gaming. Both suffer in gaming and 3D due to their poorer refresh rates, but they can handle general use and some professional applications with their screen resolution and brightness qualities.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the HP 17" Laptop compare to other laptops
"The A16 makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding."
"As far as starter laptops go, the HP Laptop 17 is a sound investment. Sure, it might not be the lightest of options, but what you get for the price is a well-rounded machine that fits multiple niches. Whether it be office duties that require you to multi-task between multiple programs, or study tasks in which you’ll spend hours browsing online, this laptop does it all. Plus, when it's time to unwind, you can watch your favorite shows or movies on a super-wide display. What's best of all is that you can do all this for about half a day on a single charge."
