If battery life and gaming performance are your top priorities, the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 is a stronger option as it likely has a better battery and newer GPU suited for gaming and other graphics-intensive tasks. On the other hand, the Gigabyte A5 with its RTX 3060 provides good performance, likely at a somewhat lower cost, and its build is more colorful. The ASUS model is also slightly heavier, which could affect portability, and both laptops offer plenty of storage and RAM for general use, engineering applications, and gaming. Each has a similar price point, so your choice depends on weighing these differences against your specific needs. Give Feedback

The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 has a better screen than the Gigabyte A5 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, both the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Gigabyte A5 have panels with suitable resolution and brightness, providing clear and vibrant displays that make daily tasks pleasurable. For engineering and design work, both laptops offer good color accuracy and coverage of color gamuts, essential for precise visual work. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the screen quality is compromised by lower refresh rates, leading to less smooth visuals which could detract from fast-paced or highly detailed visual experiences.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 has 12 hours of battery life. The Gigabyte A5 has 6.5 hours of battery life.
Battery life estimate is based on a mix of common use patterns. More portable and higher performing laptops tend to have less battery life.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and Gigabyte A5 are both good for general use.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 offers a balance for general use with a slightly more powerful CPU for smoother multitasking and content creation, along with a larger screen with a higher resolution and aspect ratio for more vertical workspace and greater detail, while its bulkier form and larger battery lend to longer unplugged use but reduced portability compared to the Gigabyte A5, which is lighter and thus easier to carry around, but has a smaller battery that won't last as long away from a power source. The Gigabyte A5, on the other hand, despite having a less powerful CPU, still holds up as a capable machine for general tasks with the additional benefit of Nvidia's GPU, which supports features like hardware ray tracing and DLSS, offering an edge in visual applications and gaming.

How the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 and the Gigabyte A5 compare to other laptops
"The A16 makes an excellent case against more expensive laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 and the MSI Katana GF76, especially if you’re into 1080p gaming. However, although its affordable, it doesn’t skimp on performance or a robust chassis. But for me, the biggest factor that sets it apart from these options is its incredible battery life. In my time reviewing laptops, I can’t remember when I last saw a gaming laptop lasted 11 and a half hours on a single charge, which makes the A16, in my book, truly outstanding."
"Ignoring price, the Gigabyte A5 has a hard time against the similarly fast competition. Besides the loud noise in 3D mode (performance mode), the high temperature development of the components should be mentioned on the downside. Despite the relatively thick case, the laptop gets very warm and loud under load, which does not exactly speak for the cooling system. The plastic surfaces look rather cheap and also tend to rattle. In most other disciplines - be it the input devices, the screen, the connectivity or the battery runtime - the Gigabyte laptop does not stand out from the crowd, neither positively nor negatively. However, those who primarily pay attention to the price-performance ratio will get a pretty good offer with the Gigabyte A5."
