The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is a top-tier gaming and engineering laptop with a powerful Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU and AMD Ryzen 9 processor, offering unparalleled performance for intensive tasks and gaming. Its large 17.3-inch display with a high refresh rate and resolution is ideal for fast-paced action and detailed visuals, though it's not a touchscreen. However, its size and weight make it less portable, and it has a shorter battery life, which is typical for high-performance gaming laptops. In contrast, the HP Dragonfly Pro 14" is designed for general use and productivity with its more compact and lightweight design, making it highly portable with excellent battery life. The AMD Ryzen 7 processor and Radeon 680M GPU provide solid performance for everyday tasks, and the 14-inch touchscreen display with a 16:10 aspect ratio is great for work and entertainment. While it's not suited for intensive gaming or heavy engineering tasks, it offers a better balance for those who prioritize portability and versatility over raw power. It also has a number pad and advanced security features like facial recognition, which might be important for business users. Ultimately, if you need a laptop for high-end gaming or demanding engineering work and don't mind a bulkier device with less battery life, the Asus is the way to go. However, if you value portability, versatility, and a balance of performance and battery life for general use, the HP Dragonfly Pro would be the better choice. Give Feedback

PCWorld

Brendan Nystedt | March 2023
"I’d say that the HP Dragonfly Pro checks off most of the boxes for this freelancer. It feels nice to use, is zippy and responsive, has great speakers, and even has a relatively sane price. Although it’s an unorthodox choice to pick AMD for this kind of machine, it’s clear that when Ryzen is given a chance to shine, it can kick a lot of butt."
