If you prioritize high-end performance for tasks like intensive gaming or demanding professional applications, you'll find that the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17, despite its higher price, offers powerful components capable of handling these requirements. However, this laptop is heavier and comes with decreased portability and likely shorter battery life compared to less powerful laptops. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15, which is more affordable, still provides decent performance for general usage and some gaming, but its capabilities may be limited for the most demanding tasks. It is more portable and offers a longer battery life, making it suitable for everyday use and for people who need to work on the go. Consider your needs carefully; if you require top-notch performance and are not as concerned with budget and mobility, the ASUS may be the right choice, but if you prefer a balance between performance and portability at a lower cost, the HP Victus 15 should be adequate. NotebookCheck

Allen Ngo | May 2021
"Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop review: liquid metal 7 nm AMD Zen 3 is stunning. The raw performance increase is absolutely bonkers if you're upgrading from a laptop on Coffee Lake-H or older. The 45 W Ryzen 9 5900HX is neck-to-neck with the thicker, heavier, and hotter Schenker Ultra 17 running on a desktop-class Core i9-11900K despite their wide TDP differences. The performance-per-watt advantages can make Intel Rocket Lake feel like a last generation platform at times. As for the chassis itself, it's a huge light show with RGB LEDs on almost all sides of the system."

Rtings

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
