The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 delivers high performance for intensive tasks and gaming, with a premium build and enhanced features like a faster graphics card and more memory. However, this comes with a higher price, heavier weight, and possibly shorter battery life due to its powerful components. On the other hand, the HP Victus 15 is more affordable, making it a suitable choice for general use and less demanding gaming, with adequate performance, lighter weight, and potentially longer battery life, but it may not handle intense engineering applications or advanced gaming as well. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 has a better screen than the HP Victus 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
For general use, both the ASUS and HP laptops offer screens with sufficient resolution, brightness, and panel quality, making content clear and vibrant for everyday tasks like browsing and watching videos. During engineering and design work, the ASUS stands out with a better range of colors covering various color gamuts, which ensures that designs and visual work are accurate and detailed. However, for gaming and 3D applications where the refresh rate is crucial for smooth motion, the ASUS falls short, offering less fluidity compared to models with higher refresh rates, which can hinder fast-paced visuals.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and the HP Victus 15 compare to other laptops
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
