The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 offers superior performance for 3D work, machine learning, and gaming due to its high-end processor and dedicated GPU, but it comes at a higher cost and with lower battery life. The HP Envy 17, on the other hand, is more budget-friendly, provides a larger screen with a touchscreen feature, and offers longer battery life, making it suitable for general use and multimedia enjoyment. However, it's less powerful for demanding engineering tasks and lacks the gaming capabilities of the ASUS. Both laptops have similar RAM and full HD resolution; the choice depends on whether performance or cost and battery life are your priority. Give Feedback

NotebookCheck

Vaidyanathan Subramaniam | May 2022
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."

Marcus Schwarten | April 2023
"In our test, the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng presents itself as a balanced multimedia laptop. Thanks to its solid CPU performance and dedicated entry-level GeForce, it can also be used for playing video games, as long as the demands aren't too high. Those looking for more can find it in the Dell XPS 17 for example."
