The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 offers solid performance for general use, 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming with its high-end main processor and advanced GPU. It's also known for a high screen refresh rate and good color coverage, making it suitable for intensive gaming and tasks that benefit from color accuracy. However, its battery life allows for only moderate use on the go. In comparison, the Gigabyte Aorus 5, while pricier, has a newer but slightly less powerful processor and GPU. This laptop has a slightly better battery life, improving its portability, and it’s equipped with a higher refresh rate display, though this might not significantly impact experience outside of competitive gaming. Both laptops feature similar build quality, RAM, and a backlit keyboard with a number pad, making them well-suited for both general use and specialized tasks like engineering. Choose the ASUS for slightly better overall performance at a lower price, or the Gigabyte for improved portability and a fresher model – but at a higher price and with less internal storage. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 has a better screen than the Gigabyte Aorus 5 for content creation.
While both the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and Gigabyte Aorus 5 have screens with adequate resolution and panel types that offer clear and vivid displays for everyday tasks and detailed work in engineering and design, their color accuracy is critical for professionals in those fields, ensuring that what they design is true to life. However, for gaming and 3D work, a high refresh rate is imperative for smooth motion and visual clarity, an area where these laptops may not deliver the optimal experience, hindering fluid gameplay and dynamic 3D rendering. Additionally, the brightness and color gamuts of these laptops, while sufficient for general use and professional design tasks, do not fully cater to the high-fidelity needs of enthusiasts and professionals in gaming and 3D, who seek immersive and highly responsive visual performance.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and Gigabyte Aorus 5 are both good for general use.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 has a high-end CPU and ample RAM, along with a quality screen, making it suitable for general use, while its heavier weight and average battery life may limit portability slightly. The Gigabyte Aorus 5 also offers dependable performance for everyday tasks, backed by a strong main processor and sufficient memory, and while it shares similar battery constraints, it is equally as portable, with its weight matching the ASUS. Both laptops have screens of the same size and resolution with high refresh rates, ensuring sharp and smooth visuals, but neither is particularly lightweight or long-lasting on a single charge, making them better suited for stationary use rather than constant travel.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 to be very good for gaming and AI, while the Gigabyte Aorus 5 is good.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 boasts a more powerful Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU and a high-quality screen, alongside an upper-tier CPU, making it excellent for gaming and 3D applications; though its screen refresh rate is lower than the Gigabyte Aorus 5, which features a notably high refresh rate and a capable Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU for very good gaming and 3D performance, albeit with a slightly less powerful CPU. Thus, if the highest possible screen refresh rate is critical, the Gigabyte Aorus 5 has an edge, while for superior graphics processing power, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 leads.

How the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 and the Gigabyte Aorus 5 compare to other laptops
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
"The Gigabyte Aorus 5 SE4 is a capable mainstream gaming notebook that will run the latest PC games with aplomb. However, it's not your stereotypical flashy gaming PC. Gigabyte has added some interesting tweaks. For example, the webcam placement and its Microsoft Azure AI tool — to automatically switch between power modes — are unusual for this genre. But more importantly, the pricing is fairly competitive and reasonable."
