For intensive tasks like 3D rendering, machine learning, and gaming, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is better equipped with a more powerful processor and graphics card, but it comes at a higher price and offers lower battery life. Despite its lower portability score, it has a high refresh rate display, making it suitable for fast-paced gaming. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook 17 is more affordable and has a larger screen, which may be better for general use and multi-tasking. It benefits from a slightly better battery life and is more portable, making it a good choice for everyday tasks and carrying around, but it lacks the performance hardware needed for more demanding applications. NotebookCheck

Vaidyanathan Subramaniam | May 2022
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."

Marvin Gollor | May 2022
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
