If performance in high-end gaming or demanding tasks like 3D rendering and machine learning is a priority, and you're fine with a higher price and less portability, the ASUS ROG Strix could be a better fit. On the other hand, if you value portability, battery life, and a lower price over top-tier performance and mainly use your laptop for general tasks, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 is likely to be more suitable for you. The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is very good for gaming and AI, while the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 is only fair.
The ASUS ROG Strix G18 comes with a high-end GPU and a screen with a fast refresh rate, which provides a smoother visual experience essential for gaming and 3D applications, whereas the Lenovo ThinkPad X13, while having a decent CPU and screen quality, may not match the graphical performance of the ASUS due to its more moderate GPU and lower refresh rate screen.

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 and Lenovo ThinkPad X13 are both very good for engineering and design, though the ASUS ROG Strix G18 is somewhat better.
The ASUS ROG Strix G18, with its advanced CPU, abundant RAM, and powerful GPU, excels in handling intensive tasks and displaying content with high screen quality, making it ideal for demanding engineering and design software; however, it is less portable and may be noisier under load. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13, while still capable for engineering and design with quality components, is more portable and has a well-regarded keyboard, but it may not match the graphical performance of the ASUS for the most demanding applications.

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 has a better screen than the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Strix G18 likely offers superior screen resolution, panel quality, and brightness, making it excellent for general use and detailed engineering tasks which benefit from high color accuracy. However, its lower refresh rate disappoints for fast-paced gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is crucial. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13's balance of good resolution and panel quality suits everyday tasks and professional design work, but like the Asus, it falls short for gaming and 3D because of its average refresh rate.

How the ASUS ROG Strix G18 and the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 compare to other laptops
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."
"The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G4 has very good input devices, a wide array of security features and ports as well as 5G in the tested configuration. It is more compact and lightweight compared with its predecessor, and it has improved speakers and a slightly better webcam. On the other hand, the fan is more annoying and the performance is barely improved. The battery is worse as well, but this is primarily attributable to the OLED screen - if this aspect is important, buyers should choose the IPS Low Power LCD."
