The ASUS ROG Strix G18 offers a balance of performance and value, with a powerful Intel i9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU that excel in gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering tasks. Its larger 18-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and high refresh rate is ideal for fast-paced gaming and detailed visual work, though the color accuracy is more suited for general use than professional color grading. It's also more portable than the Scar 17, with a slightly smaller form factor and longer battery life, making it a better choice for those who need to work on the go. In contrast, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D is a top-tier machine designed for the most demanding tasks, featuring an advanced AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor and the formidable Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU. This laptop is built for extreme performance, particularly in gaming and machine learning, where its 3D V-Cache technology shines. The Scar 17's screen has a wider color gamut and higher brightness, catering to professionals who require superior color fidelity. However, it comes with a higher price tag, shorter battery life, and is less portable due to its larger size and weight. If you prioritize portability, a balance of performance and battery life, and are mindful of budget, the Strix G18 is the way to go. However, if you're looking for the ultimate performance without compromise, especially for intensive gaming and professional workloads that can leverage the 3D V-Cache, and you're willing to pay a premium and sacrifice some portability, the Scar 17 X3D is the powerhouse that will meet your needs. NotebookCheck

Florian Glaser | March 2023
"With the ROG Strix G18, Asus has made an almost consistently good debut in the still quite new 18-inch laptop segment. The base unit case shows a few signs of weakness in the area of stability and is something which has an effect on the perceived quality of the input devices (the chassis tends to rattle a bit). Nevertheless, thanks to generous port features (incl. Thunderbolt 4), a striking design, and extensive lighting (keyboard, LED strip on the front), gamers get a fitting gaming platform."
