For a balance of performance and versatility, the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 stands out with its detachable design, offering both laptop and tablet functionality, which is great for on-the-go use. It boasts a high-performance Intel i9 processor and a capable Nvidia RTX 4050 GPU, making it suitable for engineering tasks and some gaming, though it may not match the gaming prowess of the Lenovo due to its less powerful GPU. The ASUS has a vibrant 2560 x 1600 touchscreen display with excellent color coverage, which is beneficial for creative work and general use. Its battery life is also commendable, lasting around 6.5 hours typically. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (2024) is a more traditional gaming laptop with a powerful Intel i7-14700HX and Nvidia RTX 4070, which will deliver superior gaming, 3D rendering, and machine learning performance. It has a larger 16-inch display, also with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, ensuring sharp visuals, though it lacks touch capability. The Lenovo is heavier and less portable, but it offers better thermal management and more ports, including additional USB-C and HDMI options, which could be important if you plan to connect multiple external displays or devices. If you prioritize portability, versatility, and a high-quality touchscreen display for general use and light gaming, the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is the way to go. However, if you're looking for a more powerful machine primarily for gaming and intensive tasks, and you don't mind a bulkier design, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (2024) would be the better choice. NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | March 2022
"The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is a gaming tablet with powerful Alder Lake i9 CPU. The ROG Flow Z13 impresses with its good cooling. After our review, the impression is predominantly positive. Besides a very fast Alder Lake CPU and stable gaming performance, especially the cooling system is surprisingly effective and quiet. You can use the integrated speakers without any issues while gaming. The 1200p display in the 16:10 format also impresses with good color reproduction and high brightness. Since the battery runtimes aren't particularly long as it is, we wouldn't recommend the optional 4K panel."

PCMag

Brian Westover | August 2023
"The midpriced Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 8 follows some of our favorite gaming machines, including last year's model and the higher-end Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 tested earlier this year. But pedigree doesn't count for much in the computer world, and gaming laptops require a certain level of power and graphics performance to justify their prices. The Pro 5i Gen 8 just doesn't do that, offering middling CPU and GPU performance rather than the sort of muscle that would make it a great value."
