The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 offers a superior 3D and machine learning performance over the Dell Precision 5470, making it more suitable for intensive gaming and creative tasks including video editing and graphic design due to its more powerful graphic card. However, its battery life is shorter than the Dell's. The Precision 5470, on the other hand, boasts a longer battery life and a slightly larger screen, making it better for long hours of work and general use. It is also a premium business laptop with features supportive of professional engineering software. The Flow Z13 is less expensive but less portable and has a smaller screen, while the Precision 5470 is slightly more expensive, slightly more portable, and has better battery life. Both have substantial build quality and performance for general use, but your choice should align with whether your priority is high-performance tasks or business-related functionality and longer unplugged usage. The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is very good for engineering and design, while the Dell Precision 5470 is good.
The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 excels in engineering and design due to its superior CPU, higher screen refresh rate, and dedicated GPU that supports hardware ray tracing which is vital for rendering and 3D work, while the Dell Precision 5470's strengths include a longer battery life and professional look, as well as high-quality portability features which are advantageous for on-the-go productivity, though its GPU is less powerful compared to the ASUS. The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 has a better screen than the Dell Precision 5470 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 has superior display characteristics for general use and engineering purposes due to its higher resolution and greater color accuracy, which enhance visual details and color fidelity, essential for precise work and enjoyable everyday media consumption. However, for gaming and 3D applications, the lower refresh rate makes it less ideal as it does not support the fluid motion that is crucial for fast-paced visuals. On the other hand, the Dell Precision 5470, with slightly lesser screen quality, still provides adequate resolution and color spectrum for professional tasks and casual use, yet similarly falls short for gaming due to its modest refresh rate.

How the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and the Dell Precision 5470 compare to other laptops
"The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is a gaming tablet with powerful Alder Lake i9 CPU. The ROG Flow Z13 impresses with its good cooling. After our review, the impression is predominantly positive. Besides a very fast Alder Lake CPU and stable gaming performance, especially the cooling system is surprisingly effective and quiet. You can use the integrated speakers without any issues while gaming. The 1200p display in the 16:10 format also impresses with good color reproduction and high brightness. Since the battery runtimes aren't particularly long as it is, we wouldn't recommend the optional 4K panel."
"The Dell Precision 5470 is a mobile workstation that's far more portable than most alternatives. Between its slim 14-inch design and top-quality MIL-STD 810H build, it's one of the best options around for taking professional-grade performance on the road or to the job site. There are tradeoffs for its portability, and users of the most demanding, graphics-intensive applications will need to carry something heavier. But the Dell's exceptional battery life underscores its desirability as the most portable workstation we've seen."
