The Apple MacBook Pro 16 has a better screen than the ASUS ROG Strix G17 for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Pro 16 offers exceptional screen resolution, brightness, and panel technology, making it ideal for general use, while its wide color gamut appeals to engineering and design professionals who require accurate color representation. Conversely, its lower refresh rate makes it less suitable for 3D applications where smooth motion is crucial. On the other hand, the ASUS ROG Strix G17, while also having a high-quality display for general use and engineering, falls short for gaming and 3D primarily due to a refresh rate that isn't as high as dedicated gaming laptops, which can detract from the immersive and fluid gaming experience.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 16 (2021) and the ASUS ROG Strix G17 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Pro 16 2023: M2 Max challenges GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. The new MacBook Pro 16 2023 with the M2 Max SoC is the most powerful laptop Apple has on sale right now. While we do not get the expected performance and efficiency improvements from completely new 3 nm chips, which we expected ahead of the launch, the 2023 model is still a solid update. The CPU of the M2 Max can be up to 20 % faster than the old model and we also see an advantage of 25-30 % for the GPU with 38 cores. However, both components also consume more power, so the efficiency did not change that much under maximum load."
"The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an attractive but unbalanced gaming laptop. Its potent AMD Ryzen 9 processor excels in 1080p gaming, but playing at 1440p leaves the middling GeForce RTX 4060 GPU shouldering most of the burden. The display is exceptionally colorful, which is handy for content creators, but since this is a gaming laptop it would be better served with improved HDR capabilities. If battery life isn't a priority, the Strix G17 could serve as a designer by day and a gamer by night."
