If performance during intensive tasks like engineering or advanced graphic work is critical for you, the MacBook Pro with its M2 chip is a solid choice, offering silent operation due to its fanless design. However, it is pricier and less suited for tasks requiring a dedicated numeric keypad given its smaller form factor. On the other hand, the HP Envy 17 with a larger screen and included numeric keypad could better suit users needing more screen real estate for multitasking and more value for the price. Be aware, though, it may be heavier and less convenient to carry around. The Envy's graphics capabilities may not match those of the MacBook Pro, thus it may not handle 3D rendering or machine learning tasks as well. Choose the MacBook Pro for higher build quality and potentially better multimedia creation performance or the HP Envy 17 for a larger display, better price-to-performance ratio, and more versatile connectivity. The Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a better screen than the HP Envy 17 for general use, AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13's high-resolution display and brightness offer sharp and vivid visuals for everyday tasks, complemented by a quality panel that ensures wide viewing angles and consistent colors, ideal for general use. For engineering and design, its superior color accuracy with wide color gamuts, like DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB, makes it well-suited for professionals needing precise color representation. However, its standard refresh rate limits its appeal for 3D applications, which require higher refresh rates for smooth motion rendering, as well as resolution and panel type to maintain clarity during fast-paced actions.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the HP Envy 17 compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"In our test, the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng presents itself as a balanced multimedia laptop. Thanks to its solid CPU performance and dedicated entry-level GeForce, it can also be used for playing video games, as long as the demands aren't too high. Those looking for more can find it in the Dell XPS 17 for example."
