The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) is more expensive than the ASUS Vivobook 17 but offers better performance, higher screen resolution, and a longer battery life. While the MacBook is more portable due to its smaller size and lower weight, the Vivobook has a larger screen, making it better for those who prefer a bigger display. If cost is a concern and you need a larger display, go for the Vivobook; however, if you require stronger performance for tasks like video editing and prefer a more premium build, the MacBook Pro would be the better choice. The Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 17 for general use, AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a high-resolution Retina display with brilliant brightness and wide color gamuts, making it excellent for general use and engineering tasks where color accuracy is critical. However, its screen refresh rate is lower, which is a drawback for 3D applications where smooth motion is crucial. In contrast, the ASUS Vivobook 17 offers a decent display that may not be as bright or color-accurate, making it suitable for general tasks and less demanding engineering work but less ideal for gaming or 3D models due to its refresh rate limitations and less impressive color fidelity.

The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and ASUS Vivobook 17 are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) has a 10-core GPU that's part of the Apple M2 chip offering modest performance for 3D applications, but with macOS, many popular games are not compatible or optimally playable due to lower game support for the operating system. The ASUS Vivobook 17, although larger and offering a wider screen, uses integrated UHD graphics which also provides fair 3D and gaming performance, but with a standard screen refresh rate and less powerful graphics capabilities, it may not deliver the smoothest experience for more demanding gaming scenarios.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) and the ASUS Vivobook 17 compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
