The Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) is typically less expensive than the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. It is lighter and has a longer battery life, ideal for portability and everyday use. With its high-resolution display and color accuracy, it's well-suited for general media consumption and productivity tasks. However, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro offers a larger storage capacity and more RAM. It has a high refresh rate display and powerful dedicated graphics, making it better suited for gaming, 3D rendering, machine learning, and other performance-intensive engineering applications, albeit at a higher price and with shorter battery life, making it less portable. The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 is very good for engineering and design, while the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) is good.
The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is preferred for engineering and design because it offers a more powerful AMD processor, twice the RAM of the Apple MacBook Air 15, and a high-end Nvidia graphics card, which is crucial for demanding software and tasks. While the MacBook Air excels with a high-quality screen and silent operation, making it more portable, the Legion 5 Pro's superior specs provide the performance necessary for intensive engineering and design work.

The Apple MacBook Air 15 has a better screen than the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 for engineering and design, software development, and content creation, while the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
When considering screen quality for general use, the MacBook Air's high resolution and brightness provide a sharp and vivid display, while the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 matches in resolution and brightness but might offer a different panel type. For engineering and design tasks where color accuracy is crucial, both the MacBook Air and the Lenovo Legion effectively cover broad color gamuts, ensuring that colors are represented accurately and consistently. However, for 3D applications which demand high refresh rates, neither laptop excels, as they likely prioritize resolution and color fidelity over the smoother visuals that higher refresh rates provide, potentially making them less ideal for such demanding visual tasks.

How the Apple MacBook Air 15 (2023) and the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air 15 is boringly good. The new MacBook Air 15 is a very good, but also boring device, because apart from the larger screen and the higher price, there are no differences compared to the smaller MacBook Air M2 from last year. No new processor, no additional ports, just the usual basic hardware - but the overall package is extremely good and it simply works. Above all, the lack of fans is an aspect that should not be underestimated in everyday use. In our opinion, the Air could be a lot better, but Apple goes easy on itself here."
"It doesn't quite match its Legion Pro 7i sibling as an Editors' Choice winner, but Lenovo's AMD-powered Legion Pro 5 Gen 8 is a stylish, well-built gaming laptop with solid performance at both 1080p and its sharper native resolution. It's cheaper than some comparably equipped machines and better than some similarly priced ones. That's a recipe for success, even without its frequent availability of discounts or sales. A brighter screen and longer battery life would be nice, but even as is the Legion Pro 5 earns a solid recommendation."
